The Art of Talking to Strangers — A Practical Approach
It happened for me when I stopped Googling “how to start a conversation with a stranger?” Instead, I did this

In the past few years, I’ve dived into lots of videos and blogs, all about conquering the fear of talking to strangers. But no matter how much I searched; real progress seemed out of reach.
It clicked for me when I stopped Googling “How to start a conversation with a stranger?” and decided to put what I’ve learned into action.
If you’re on the lookout for practical solutions to overcome the fear of striking up conversations with strangers, you’re in the right place.
Let’s dive in!
When surrounded by new faces, my desire is always to engage in conversations. I genuinely enjoy connecting with strangers in real life rather than through online platforms.
However, here’s the twist — a sneaky little feeling of “I’m not sure about this” keeps hanging around.
It’s like my self-esteem is on a rollercoaster ride, and I didn’t even buy a ticket! 🎢😅
Last week, I took a bold step on my journey.
My goal: explore a new place and meet unfamiliar faces.
The plan? Simple. “Talk to three strangers, no matter how you approach it.”
Excitement filled me as I stepped into the vast park. People were scattered around — some reading books. Others engage in play with friends. Few came with their family, and a few had lively group conversations.
When I strolled into the park, I made a deal with myself — no more waiting around for the “perfect” moment to start a conversation.
And guess what? My first real talk happened within 5 to 10 minutes.
Recognizing an opportunity
Settling onto a bench, I tuned into the lively scene of people in the park.
Before I knew it, my eyes locked onto two girls in a bit of a pickle. There was no tripod mount in sight, and they were wrestling with their mobile and a tripod, attempting the same scene over and over.
Can you imagine their situation? 🤷♂️
Recognizing an opportunity, I approached them with a friendly smile. “Hey, I couldn’t help but notice your creative photo session. I’d love to lend a hand and capture the moment for you. I’m quite passionate about photography!”
To my delight, as soon as I offered assistance, their faces lit up with happiness.
Turns out, they needed help since they forgot their tripod mount, leading to a bit of a struggle to set up their camera.
As I captured moments for them, a vibrant conversation unfolded. It was a wonderful experience, with us sharing stories for the next hour.
The magic truly revealed itself when they invited me for lunch.
This highlights the beauty of taking that first step — proving that people are more friendly than scary.
So, picture this — my confidence level went through the roof after this adventure, way better than all those motivational videos combined.
This turns out,
“Doing stuff gets you results.”
Who knew?
